since i started watching it this year [ 2024 ] i've been so obsessed for no reason, and just for some context, i've been obsessed with [ MCYT ] since 2020, and only recently my interest started fading, so i was left out here without a fandom and just a lot of resentment.
Then I pick up this show and immediately I'm so into it, and that means I rewatch it a couple of times over and over, to the point I have a hard time watching any other show because I'll just tab out to watch more r&m.
A lot of the [ FANDOM ] is a bit too much, like the whole meme that's Rick and Morty can only be understood by smart people, but what I love are the people on tumblr that keep the fandom going and also understand it the way I do.

as the title says, here are my favourite episodes in no particular order! this is just an excuse for me to talk about my fav episodes, THIS LIST IS SLOWLY UPDATING there are around 18 that i plan on writing about but also next season could drop in the meantime so...

[ That's Amorte ] [ S7 ep4 ]

Season 7 has some bangers and this is a good example! I find the more serious episodes more rewatchable in a sense, possibly trying to get the same emotions as what I felt watching it the first time. Also i like how they made the man's life not perfect, they could have easily made the classic “man gets a job, has a wife and children and happy ever after ” but no my guy is a home wrecker in a way lmao. And funny detail, the guy his first girlfriend moved on with is actually the same guy Rick was taking the spaghetti from in the beginning of the episode. It's kinda sad, because from his perspective, his wife left him for another man, and apparently from his funeral he didn't even have that many people that cared for him that much. Also the art is pretty good, the backgrounds and colors are so nice and the general concept is crazy, i actually never seen a show or other media that uses a similar premise? ALSOOO it's crazy how in the season 7 poster, rick is covered in marinara and spaghetti, referencing this, but he doesn't actually get covered in pasta in the episode, he gets covered in real blood in the episode after, [ UNMORTRICKEN ] cool detail idk.

I love any episode that has Rick and Jerry interacting a lot automatically because of how interesting their dynamic can be.
They have completely opposite personalities but their reason for hating each other is the same. If there is a reverse bechdel test they kinda fail it at times because their serious arguments always revolve around beth. Jerry hates rick because beth cares about her dad more than him, and it doesn't help thats hes already insecure about his position as the “man” in the family, and rick hates jerry because he kinda tied her down with her family and raising kids when he knew she could do much much more than that. I'm so glad they explore this concept even more later in the season, because no matter how you put it they both are in the right. And that's why she ends up asking Rick to clone her because you can't really say no to either options.
Also idk why but the segment where giant reversed skin beth and giant reversed skin summer hugging it out inspired tricia to call her own mother is so sweet idk if they wrote it as like a joke but its so real for no reason, i love little details like this.

Imagine my disappointment when I watched the whole 7 seasons and was already imagining all kinds of fanart of these two, and what I found was CRUMBS. [ only 96 works tagged as Birdperson/Rick Sanchez on ao3] Not that many people see the insane romantic potential of these two because they are too busY BEING PROSHIPPERS sobs. I have nothing against proship, just generally not my thing, and while i will not tell proshippers not to interact, i will block most whenever i see them [ on tumblr or twitter ] and that should be it, making a fuss about it is dumb but ITS SOOO SAD THAT SO MANY PEOPLE SHIP RICK WITH HIS GRANDSON INSEAD OF, YOU KNOW, HIS AGE APPROPRIATE BEST FRIEND !! Since I saw that one moment during [ Blood Ridge - S5 ep 8 ] in which Birdperson straight up rejected Rick - and how Rick being scared of further rejection just leaves instead of explaining himself more and trying to convince BP, which I believe could've worked - I was hooked. I love that kind of yaoi angst. If we don't get any Birdperson and Rick in season 8 I might do something drastic.
